Mellow Yellow

Today, I went out for a day of leisure and relaxation, and I came home with this - A 2008 Mini Cooper S in Mellow Yellow.

While it seems like we do cars a lot at my house, we haven't bought a new one in quite a while. And if you'd asked me on Monday of this week if I'd be buying a new car on Saturday, you would have probably heard a resounding 'no' from me.

But something struck me about this when I saw it. It's a happy little car. It's fun. And really zippy. I'm not sure I can be anything but cheerful in it. And it felt like it was just sitting there on the showroom floor, waiting for me. It smiled and wagged its tail when I walked in. It may have been love at first sight, mutually.

The price was right, the dealer made me a good deal, and within a couple of hours, this little cutie pie followed me home....with my husband driving it, of course. It's supposed to be my car...officially....but I have a feeling he'll be behind the wheel much of the time. It's just so much fun to drive. And we could use some fun at my house right now.

By the way, I think it's a car and color you either love or hate. So feel free to do either. For me, it's a ray of sunshine in my garage, and I'll take it.

I'm not a car person at all (I don't drive) but I can see why you'd like this. It is such a cheerful colour - a little ray of sunshine. Enjoy it.

Thanks. I agree. I usually choose something subtle in a car color -- often silver or white -- so this is a true departure for me. But a Mini just seems like it ought to be a fun color, something that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Unfortunately, driving is more of a necessity in the US. If I didn't have to, I probably wouldn't have a car. And I find myself trading down to smaller, less expensive ones every time, as I just don't want to be bothered with the extra expense anymore.

The nice thing about this car is that it's relatively inexpensive (esp. for a BMW product), but the fun factor is high. I think I'm going to enjoy it, color and all.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that! Nothing like a good testimonial.

I just came in from driving it. Fun, fun, fun!! Especially down by the beach!!

I had originally wanted the convertible, but I ended up liking the coupe with the elongated sunroof on it better - gives me the sunshine without the wind factor.

I also got a manual transmission, which I haven't driven in years. But it's so much more fun with the stick! You can really make the little guy go!
