Writer's Panic
I woke up at 5am today, panicked that my monthly magazine column is due on Wednesday, and I have not yet begun to write. Yikes! The magazine has given me a theme, and generally, something clever and witty gets immediately written in my head that will more than suffice. However, this month, I have been unusually distracted by other activities, and the ideas just aren't flowing. I love writing the column, but I hate those times when I have to force creativity. Happens now and then. I'll get through it by locking myself in my office this afternoon and not coming out until the wit and sarcasm are bubbling over.

What's your theme? Any progress?
What do you write for, M?
I write a monthly column for a Florida magazine. It's not a huge publication - goes to 25-50,000 people. It's a small column called, "Observations from the Edge", and it's generally my own humorous take on culture and life and whatever happens to be gnawing at me that day. The mag gives me a theme (this month they are focused on Easter, Passover and the local real estate market), so I need to tailor it to fit in with one of those.
Still working on it....having writer's block bigtime this month. And leaving for London later this week, so I need to get it done pronto!
Oooh what a great column to have! Thats still a huge readership, good on you! I'm jealous.
Have a fab time in London. How weird, you'll be a couple of miles from me and Sanddancer for once!
Yes, I will! If anyone is in favor of meeting up for a drink to say hello while I'm there, let me know. I'd be happy to do so, but if not, I fully understand and will report back on my London ventures when I return.
When are you here? What day do you get here I mean?
I arrive Thursday a.m., leave Sunday a.m. Whirlwind trip! Staying in Knightsbridge, walking distance to Sloane Square and Harrods.
I'm working Friday, out Friday eve, and I've arranged to do some arty stuff with a mate Sat daytime.. meal Sat night with P... I'll see if I can swap any of these around.. I'll get back to you.
No worries if you can't, Miss F. If you are in the area and it's easy for us to cross paths, it'd be fun to say hi in person. But if not, we'll do it next time!
Also, if you want to take the discussion off the public blog, you can send to my email at brain.drops@hotmail.com and we can chat from there about specifics.
If it had been any other weekend, I would have loved to have met up, but we get the keys to our new place on Thursday night so will be busy with house stuff all weekend. The OH's parents are coming over to 'help out' which can't be re-arranged and I don't think they would take kindly to me not being there!
Congrats on your new place! That's very exciting. Sounds like a fabulous weekend christening of the new digs. Enjoy!
I don't think I can afford to come up town this weekend, M- I've only got £160 left for three weeks! Shit!
Have an absolutely amazing time, please let us know everything you did and I hope the weather holds up for you :o)

No worries, Miss F. I'm here and having a wonderful time already. Weather welcomed us, and we didn't get rained on until late tonight on our way home from the theatre. Saw 'We Will Rock You', and while the story itself is a bit weak, the music of Queen is fabulous, and the ending is worth the whole thing. Also did Harrod's today. Tomorrow, just bumping around town, theatre again tomorrow night. Loving the city, looks so charming and tidy, and people are friendly, which is really nice.
